Dr. Karel Roztocil, M.D., Ph.D., FIUA
Dr. Roztocil is an angiologist at the Institute of Clinical and Experimental Medicine in Prague, Czech Republic, where he has been working for almost all his professional career. He served as Head of Department of Angiology and Deputy Head of Department of Cardiology. He is a member of several national and international cardiovascular scientific societies, active in organizing annual national meetings in the field of angiology.
In 2012, he chaired the 25th World Congress of the International Union of Angiology in Prague. He served as President of the Czech Society of Angiology (2000-17), President of the Central European Vascular Forum and President of the International Union of Angiology – both in 2012-14, President of the European Society for Vascular Medicine (2018-2019). He earned his Ph.D. with a thesis on the investigation of microcirculation in patients with different clinical conditions.
His research interests are focused mainly on clinical pharmacology of vasoactive and antithrombotic drugs, investigation of capillary permeability and microcirculation, and on clinical aspects of arterial and venous diseases. He is author of more than 350 publications and more than 700 oral communications focused on topics of angiology, phlebology and cardiology.
